Used iPhone meetup checklist
Run this list before money changes hands. It is intentionally short: the goal is to catch obvious ownership, function, and condition risk while you are still free to walk away.

Seller access: the seller unlocks the phone, knows the passcode, and can use Settings without excuses.

Apple account: the seller can sign out and turn off Find My. Never plan around an Activation Lock bypass.

Exact device: confirm model, storage, color, serial, and IMEI in Settings instead of trusting the listing title.

Carrier and IMEI: check basic blacklist and carrier status. A report helps, but it does not replace ownership checks.

Battery: open Battery Health, note the percentage and warnings, and price future replacement into the deal.

Security hardware: test Face ID or Touch ID. A failure changes both value and resale trust.

Cameras and sound: test every lens, video, microphone, earpiece, loudspeaker, and vibration.

Charging and controls: test the port, wireless charging when available, buttons, Wi-Fi, and cellular signal.

Condition and parts: inspect screen, frame, back glass, lenses, liquid clues, and Parts & Service History.

Reset before payment: erase the phone and reach the clean setup screen. Leave if the story changes or the seller rushes you.
Message before you leave home
“Before we meet, can you confirm the phone is paid off, not blacklisted, and ready for you to sign out of Find My and erase in front of me?”
Do not buy around account locks, blacklists, unclear ownership, or a promise that a serious issue will be fixed later. No checklist can guarantee a device or profit; it helps you slow down and verify.
